After the 2011 Tohoku event -
rethinking the Tsunami threat to Hawaii
Rhett Butler obtained his degrees from MIT and Caltech. He served as the Program Manager for the Global Seismographic Network (GSN) from its inception in 1986 through 2010. He has set up seismic facilities as far away as Greenland and the South Pole, but is currently focusing his attention on threats posed to Hawaii from major earthquakes in the Aleutian Islands.
