Hawaii Natural Energy Institute

Ocean Wave Energy

The Hawaii Natural Energy Institute, which is part of SOEST at the University of Hawaii, is collaborating with the US Navy and the DOE on a research project to study the potential of ocean waves as a source of renewable energy. The researh is being carried out at the Navy's Wave Energy Test Site (WETS) at the Marine Corps base in Kaneohe.

 

Dr Cross will present a brief overview of the natural energy projects currently under study at HNEI and then tell us more about recent observations with the first two wave conversion devices in place at WETS.
