Dr. Jolene Sutton is an assistant professor in the Biology Department at University of Hawai‘i at Hilo. Her research is focused on conservation genomics of native Hawaiian species, and on control of invasive pest species.
Over a million people die each year from mosquito-borne illnesses. Dr. Sutton will discuss efforts that are being made to combat this problem, and will describe strategies that have potential to suppress populations of disease-carrying mosquitoes in Hawai‘i and elsewhere in the world.
