Professor Jeffrey Drazen
Department of Oceanography
Studying the biology of the Mariana Trench
- the deepest place on Earth
Dr. Drazen earned his PhD at Scripps Institution of Oceanography and then conducted postdoctoral work at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute before joining the University of Hawaii in 2004.
His research focuses on the ecology of deep-sea fishes and most recently fishes in the ocean’s deepest places as a founding member of the Hadal Ecosystem Studies Program (HADES).
