Professor Rebecca Cann

On the DNA Trail....

Can the Human Genome Explain what Makes Us Uniquely Human?

Dr. Rebecca Cann is a Professor of Genetics at the UH-Manoa.  She received her BS (Genetics) and PhD  (Physical Anthropology) degrees from the University of California, Berkeley.  Her initial research centered on understanding the process by which modern humans emerged as a species and spread out of Africa, using Mitochondrial DNA.

Her more recent research has focussed on potential extinctions of endangered bird populations in several locations, including Hawaii and Sri Lanka.
